After last month's birthday celebrations and the big trip to Wales, May has been a much more sedate affair, with a royal coronation, a trip to East Kilbride and a spot of gardening on the itinerary.
I was excited to hear a King Charles would become our new monarch. I was expecting a canine king, something like this:
but, instead, we got him:I don't mind the old man. He looks dog-friendly with his stick and ball. I'm not so sure about the fancy dress. That's a lot of dead stoats he's draped in. I'm sure the intention was for him to look regal but I reckon he more resembles a bewildered care home resident who's been dressed up by the staff for Halloween. "Is mummy coming to visit today?"
On the day of the coronation, the Woman helped get me into the party mood. She dressed me in a Union Jack bowtie and gave me my dinner on a Union Jack paper plate.

Later in the month, we had planned to go to Millport for the day but the weather forecast indicated afternoon rain so, instead, we headed to East Kilbride for a morning walk around Calderglen Country Park and Zoo (I wasn't allowed in the zoo but I did stare through the window at some humans looking at a small furry animal - the irony).
We weren't the only ones with the same idea for a day out. Lots of midges turned up too (they're too small to appear in the photos). I think they're attracted to the trees and water, as was this bird:
The park's Courtyard Café is dog-friendly so, after our walk, we paid it a visit. I only got a Bonio, despite there being other items on the dog menu. I think the Man wasn't happy with the prices. The total for two drinks, an Empire biscuit and a rolo traybake, plus my Bonio, came to £11.70. So not exactly wallet-friendly. We're unlikely to go back.
