July 2023 - Back to Nature

Barshaw Park

This month, I went on holiday again to Lindsay and Malcolm's house, rooming for a few nights with two boisterous boys. They were so loud, their barking almost drowned out the sound of the rain. I don't like to complain but I'm not fond of the rain. I prefer to get wet on my own terms, paddling in a shallow pool or rolling on the wet sand on the beach. The only good thing about the rain is it makes the long grass taste nicer.

The boys tired out eventually

We spent a couple of weekends at the cabin in Aberfoyle. I enjoyed watching the wildlife.

I wasn't so keen on the underwater dog that had my reflection. A bit too Stranger Things for my liking.

There were loads of ducks at the pond.

They had a sports day one afternoon. They waddled up the big lawn to the top of the slope and then competed in a flying event. They flew around various aerial courses back to the pond. Points were awarded for the biggest splash and most graceful touchdown.

We also went for some lovely walks between the showers. The Man went into exploring mode as we traversed another unfamiliar path beside the River Forth.

Later in the month, on a rare warm and dry day, the Man had some gardening duties to perform at the Woman's mum's house. Afterwards, we went for a stroll down to Ardrossan South Beach via Cafe Palazzo (for ice cream) and the park beside the Castle.

I tried to leap this wall, not knowing
there was a sheer drop on the other side.

A popular beach? Not today

Wild water sitting

Sandier than a cool mat

Is the tide coming in or going out?

From the massive salty puddle,
I'd say someone needed a mighty pee.

Back home, I was on my best behaviour.

Well... mostly.

Nobody's perfect.

February 2026 - Shorn Like a Sheep

I was beginning to look like a Wookie, so a haircut was long overdue. However, I wasn't expecting quite so dramatic a transformation. Po...
