April is a great month because it's my birthday, my first one. I was hoping someone would buy me socks. Not to wear but to chew. I'd been leaving hints all over the place, lifting their socks from their travel bags and out of their mountain boots but no one was buying.
I did get a fab holiday and some birthday cake.
It could have all gone horribly wrong. The Woman caught Covid for the second time and this meant I couldn't see my pals at Pawz & Co. Fortunately, it was close to the school Easter holidays so I only missed a couple of days. She wasn't too poorly and despatched the man to the spare room and kept the master bedroom and living room (with the telly) for herself.
He took me up to the cabin for the weekend to get away from her. I got away from him the first morning when I decided to go exploring after he let me out to pee, running all the way down to the pond to say hello to the ducks. Then I remembered I hadn't had breakfast and ran all the way back before he even had time to put on his outdoor shoes. He was pleasantly surprised to see me back so soon as I have previous for wandering.
Later, he took me for a walk beside the river in Aberfoyle. The level was so low due to the lack of recent rain that I got to run around in the water and along the bank. I also loved dashing up to other walkers, saying hello to them then running off again. Everyone was amazed at my speed. It was a fun afternoon.
When the Woman was better, we all went on holiday up to the cabin. They took me on trips to Plean Country Park, Callander, Braeval and Lamahamish and had lovely walks around Aberfoyle and the campsite (see below). We also went to a few dog-friendly eating places like the Meadowside Bar & Kitchen in Bridge of Allan and The Atrium in Callander. In the latter, they have dog treats in large jars at floor level but I didn't manage to work out how to unlock the lid. It was such a tease. The waitress did give me a few after I complained about the lack of self-service.
I did pick up one early present at the cabin in the shape of a tick. The man found it and the Woman removed it. That'll teach them to be late with my worm/flea/tick medicine.
On my actual birthday, the Woman put a bandana on my collar so everyone would know it was my special day.
All my pals were excited for me, giving me kisses and chasing me. When it came to my birthday cake, I ate loads. It's supposed to be shared but my appetite is as huge as my mouth. When the cake was being broken up and pieces thrown to everyone, I changed my mind about sharing and grabbed another big chunk for myself. But I made sure I didn't hurt the human's hands. It was a gentle cake extraction.
