I knew this was a mistake because the Man had already taken his diuretic and a cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea, a combination that often requires close proximity to toilet facilities. While on the walk, I did my best, for his sake, to cut it short. I pooed and pee'd in the first field so we didn't need to walk on. I refused to move beyond the cemetery. I halted again before the bridge over the burn, telling him to listen to all that trickling water. He ignored every request to go back, insisting we walk on, completing the circuit past the Rob Roy Hotel.
By the time we returned to the cabin, he was in severe discomfort. Bent over, he hurried to the ensuite to relieve himself, sitting down to ease the flow. Unfortunately, the jet was so powerful, it shot between the bowl and the seat to form a puddle around him, one that his trouser leg took great pleasure in soaking up.
He was fuming when he discovered he'd forgotten to pack a spare pair. With time against him, he was forced to quickly wash the dirty pair in the sink and dry them with the hair dryer. When he asked me to rate his results, my nasal recoil proved the final nail in their effort to visit the cinema. Less a case of eau de toilette, more one of oh-oh de toilet.
(At the time of writing, they still haven't seen Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania).

| Trigony House Hotel |
I worried this might jeopardise my first-ever proper holiday to a hotel. What if he couldn't be trusted not to wee on the floor of the bedroom toilet?
The Trigony House Hotel, near Thornhill, Dumfriesshire, is one of the most dog-friendly hotels in the UK. I was looking forward to my stay because:
1. Dogs are welcomed throughout the hotel and grounds;
2. There are great dog-friendly walks directly from the hotel;
3. I get a free welcome box with dog treats
4. Dog sitting was available, with notice, on request;
5. They could provide FREE dog beds, towels and bowls on request;
And, best of all,
6. I had my own Doggy Breakfast Menu.

Unfortunately, the weather was poor, with snow and rain, so I didn't get to try all the local walks. We ended up driving to the Cream of Galloway (Rainton, Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas, DG7 2DR). I wasn't allowed inside.
I was so tired afterwards, I didn't even mind that there wasn't a Doggy Dinner Menu at the hotel.
They asked me to rate my visit.
