December 2022 - Not Going Out

December was an awful month for the weather. Sub-zero temperatures, snow, heavy rain, gales, flooding: no wonder I didn't want to go out.

The month began with a trip to the Fun Field, an enclosed outdoor area with an agility course. Only, it rained and I got soaked. I gave up and waited at the gate while the others played in the drizzle and mud. Not my idea of fun.

When we got home, the Woman subjected me to her singing. I wouldn't have minded but it gets a bit much hearing the same song sung over fifty times in a row (she was practising for her Rock Choir).

With so many professions going on strike this month, from nurses to posties to rail workers, I decided to join in. Fed up with my smoke-damaged bedding conditions, I went on a sleep strike, protesting nightly until I was awarded a new bed that didn't come with bars. It's amazing what you can achieve when your owners want to sleep. I'm not suggesting I took inspiration from the Woman's singing but I did use the same whine fifty times an hour and didn't need a lyric sheet.

Of course, bad weather can also bring its rewards.

Plenty of relaxing on the couch...

And on their bed...

And on the chair at the Man's Mum's.

And at the Woman's feet...

with the expectation of plenty of tickles

Then there was the Christmas tree with its presents. The Woman called them decorations but I knew differently.

I also enjoyed chewsing cards from the Christmas card display.

Of course, I got some lovely proper toys at Christmas. My favourite was the sprout.

I didn't enjoy the rest of Christmas Day. We drove down to Ardrossan to see Rusty and the Woman's Mum. I got drenched on the walk down to the beach. I ran it off with another dog who couldn't catch me.

On the way back, the Man encountered car problems when his clutch packed in. He had to park on the verge of the Linwood roundabout and leave on his annoying clickety-click hazard lights. The Woman elected to walk home with me, despite the rain, which only got heavier the further we went. I eventually parked my bottom and refused to budge. I can be particularly stubborn when necessary. She eventually had to coax me with treats.

You can't be serious. In this weather.

Happy to be home.
